The South African TB HIV Training (SATBAT) is a HIV TB research training initiative that provides funding opportunities to people affiliated with South African research institutions and to South African government employees. The purpose of the organisation is to improve TB research in South Africa. SATBAT is involved in both improving the understanding of research outputs as well as undertaking research.

It is funded by a grant from the US's NIH Fogarty International Center.

Grants 101

Grants 101 is a two-day seminar on how to write a grant proposal. Drs. Charlie van der Horst (UNC-Chapel Hill) and Katherine Fielding (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) led the course for the third time in May 2009 in South Africa. The seminar was held May 20-21 in Cape Town, with 39 trainees from around the country of South Africa. The slide presentation can be found here.
