Graeme Meintjes

Dr. Graeme Meintjes, MBChB, FCP (SA) is doing a distance MPH at Johns Hopkins University funded by SATBAT and is mentored by Dr. Gary Maartens at UCT who first nominated him. After attending the Johns Hopkins Summer Insititute, he elected to register for an MPH. He anticpates completing his distance MPH at Hopkins in the coming year, and is coregistered for a PhD at the University of Cape Town. Dr. Meintjes is employed at UCT as a Senior Clinical Researcher in the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Molecular Medicine (IIDMM). He is also a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine, in the Department of Medicine at UCT. He has maintained his appointment at GF Jooste Hospital in an honorary capacity and continues to do one outpatient clinic and one Infectious Diseases ward round each week and contributes to the management of the Infectious Diseases Unit. In addition, he has recently been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine of Imperial College London until December 2014. As of July, he has coauthored 11 papers published in peer reviewed journals in 2010. Dr. Meintjes is now mentoring younger researchers including Dominique Pepper, MBChB, Dr Charlotte Schutz MBChB, and Dr Suzaan Marais MBChB.
